Serving the Borough of Wenonah Since 1888
The Wenonah Fire Company, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose members provide fire/rescue services to the Borough of Wenonah and mutual aid communities. The Fire Company owns and maintains the firehouse on S. West Ave. and operates the Borough owned fire apparatus. The cooperative relationship with the municipality along with the support of the citizens of Wenonah continues the rich tradition of the company in providing a well-trained, professional volunteer force to turn out on every alarm.
The fire company responded to a reported Carbon Monoxide alarm. Crews investigated and found high levels of CO in the basement utility room. Upon further investigation, the cause was determined to be a leaking acetylene bottle stored in the garage. The meters were experiencing cross sensitivity between CO and acetylene. Ventilation was put into place and the resident was checked out by GC EMS. Before clearing, the gas levels in the home had returned to normal.
Taskforce 13-1 was dispatched to the 200 block of W. Mantua Ave for a reported dwelling fire. 1301 arrived and confirmed the report of a stove fire extending up the kitchen wall and a smoke condition throughout the first floor. Engine 1312 arrived and quickly extinguished the fire while our mutual aid partners began to ventilate. The owners cat was located and reunited with its family. A quick and skilled response from your volunteers brought the situation to a close.
